The OnePlus X is now permanently available without an invite
It’s that time in the OnePlus phone cycle: the OnePlus X is now available without an invite – permanently.
We liked the phone when we went hands-on with it, but they don’t tend to sell as well as they could because the invite-only system makes them hard to access when they first go on sale.
Still, OnePlus has been speeding up the transition between the first invite-only sales and full availability as the brand grows and improves its production capacity.
While it took the original OnePlus a full year to become available without an invite (aside from some short sales), the OnePlus X moved from announcement to invite-free sales in 3 months.
Hopefully that gap will close further – then OnePlus might be able to make a serious dent in the market.

Meet Samsung’s ripoff of the Surface Pro 4
Samsung’s new Galaxy TabPro S looks more than a little familiar: it’s basically a clone of the Surface Pro.
The new 12-inch tablet is a convertible device that runs Windows 10, sports 4GB of RAM, a 2.2 GHz Intel Core M chip, AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2160×1440 and weighs just 693 grams.
To contrast, the Surface Pro 4 weighs in at 766 grams with a 12-inch screen, but it uses Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processors, rather than the Core M and a 2,736 x 1,824 resolution display.
Most interestingly, the battery can fully charge in 2.5 hours, but supposedly offers up to 10.5 hours of battery life for all day use.
It actually comes with the keyboard cover for free, which connects just like the Surface Pro as well, using a pogo-pin connector so you don’t need to pair it.
What’s most interesting, however, is that Samsung’s crammed in a category 6 LTE modem, so you can slap in a SIM card and surf the Web without needing to use a hotspot.
The Galaxy TabProS will be available later in 2016, but Samsung hasn’t confirmed how much it’ll cost.

Furbo lets you catapult treats at your dog when you’re not around
Everyone gets a little curious about what their pets are up to when they’re not around. While the concept of pet cams aren’t exactly new, Furbo wants to help you catapult treats to your pet so you can interact when you’re away.
Furbo works like most portable surveillance cameras: it’s got a 120-degree angle lens that you can zoom in and out of, night vision, a microphone that both listens and allows you to speak to the pet, a camera to record HD videos or snap photos, and a sensor that can send alerts should your dog start barking repeatedly.
If you refill the top chassis with small treats, you can also push one button to send a snack flying and watch your pet scurry around to find it. Furbo recommends you use 3M stickers to keep the wired device stable on a countertop.
Pet cameras like Petzi already have a treat-dispensing feature, but Furbo hopes that the act of literally launching the snack is more fun for both you and your pet. Can’t be rewarded without a little bit of work, right?
Unlike Petzi, Furbo will launch at a slightly cheaper rate – $99 for the pre-order via Indiegogo compared to Petzi’s $169. Furbo cameras will ship this August internationally.
